COURSE DESCRIPTION HVAC involves classroom and laboratory activities designed to furnish the student with the skills and knowledge to aid in the repair, installation and service of residential heating and air conditioning equipment. The laboratory contains up to date equipment, toots and test instruments. Among the equipment are window ac systems, central ac systems, heat pump systems, through the wall units, refrigerators, residential ice makers and a commercial ice maker. Refrigerants used include R-134a, R-22 and R-410a
HVAC includes classroom and laboratory activities designed to help students understand the service and repair procedures of most heating and air conditioning equipment.
Students compete in the state and national SkilsUSA (vocational organization) competition and have won Gold the last two years.
Students can earn up to 12 hours of concurrent credit with ASU Newport.
