COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Electronics program emphasizes understanding the theory of electronics by hands-on construction of projects, classroom lectures, demonstrations, and lab experiments. Students receive training in soldering and project building, which provides understanding of electronic parts and the wide range of inputs and outputs available in the industry. More than 25 different projects, including inputs such as sound, touch, voice and electrical power, are available for students to construct and keep. Students learn that these inputs use transducers such as microphones and other sensors to relay the information to the circuitry while the outputs provided include flashing lights, electrical power, voice transmission, beeps, and sirens. Students construct projects including a telephone, audio amplifier, power supplies, burglar alarms, and small robots on wheels.
Students completing two years of Electronics with a B or higher average can receive up to eight hours of college credit at Arkansas State University-Arkansas State Technical Institute in Beebe.
